Open Houses-

Throughout the summer months, members pick a date and open their garden railroads up for an afternoon for viewing from fellow members.  These are not open to the public.  It's a great time to discuss the "how did you create it?" and to get ideas from other layouts.  Also a terrific way to meet people with the same interest as you.

Wayzata Community Layout-

This public layout is outside in beautiful downtown Wayzata at the James J. Hill Depot Museum which sits between Lake Minnetonka and the real train tracks.  MGRS is responsible for the maintenance of the layout and plants which are all live on the layout.  In exchange, we get to run our own trains there.  Posted times of Saturdays and Sundays, weather permitting, from 1pm-4pm, we run trains for the public with huge crowds always showing up.  The layout is also available anytime to run your trains.

Jackson Street Roundhouse-

Located in the MN Transportation Museum at 193 Pennsylvania Ave. East in St. Paul, MN, you will find a 70 foot by 10 foot, 2 loop layout created by MGRS members.  This layout depicts the history of MN and the role of railroads.  MGRS members belonging to the museum are welcomed to run their trains there during open hours of Wednesdays & Saturdays from 10am-4pm.  This is a great opportunity for rainy days and the long winter months as well.
